Midlands Xmas Meet - Guinney1971 - 18 Oct 2012

I'm getting people asking me if we're having an Xmas meet up again this year.

Do people have any preferences as to what sort of venue they'd like to go to,
and location so that I can make enquiries.

So far, we've been to a Chinese in Ambergate, a fish & chip restaurant in Woodlinkin,
and a 50's American Diner in Swadlincote.

Do we want to re-visit any of these, or go somewhere new?

I'm easy (on the basis I've never been to any!)

big help there Bardo!! lol Tongue

Re: Midlands Xmas meet - any ideas? - Rissy - 19 Oct 2012

yeah, good one Paul. Always helpful.

My equally useless input will be to the fashion of, I may be able to go if it's in December, but also, I may not. It depends on the project in Belgium and my working commitments on it. :|

ok Rissy, well keep us posted, and hopefully dates wont clash once something is (eventually) organised.

In another one of my useful suggestions, I think you should make it near Christmas

Re: Midlands Xmas meet - any ideas? - MikeWard - 22 Oct 2012

Not that it helps much, but any chance of it being held a bit further down south? Smile

Re: Midlands Xmas meet - any ideas? - Guinney1971 - 22 Oct 2012

well, as this is the *Midlands* area....

We try and do something central as we have members in Worksop (north Notts), and
also people in Birmingham/Coventry area, so its finding somewhere in the middle, which
usually means doing something in the Derby(shire) area.

You are of course welcome along Mike, its not so much a DeLorean meet (as most cars
are tucked up for the winter), more a social 'get together, have a natter, nice meal, etc,
kinda meet.

Re: Midlands Xmas meet - any ideas? - MikeWard - 23 Oct 2012

 Whoops, I just read Xmas meet.

Tucked up for Winter? Weather permitting I use mine all year round. Smile

Re: Midlands Xmas meet - any ideas? - Guinney1971 - 24 Oct 2012

well mines tucked up because I cant afford to re-tax it Sad

I have used mine in the winter before, but my heater & blowers don't work, so
the car is just too cold to drive in the winter months (and too hot when it is a nice
day cos only one window works Sad )

Paul Bardill has been in touch with a possible venue and will post details on here shortly.

Re: Midlands Xmas meet - any ideas? - trainmad - 07 Nov 2012

I have indeed!

I thought that perhaps Carriages Italian Restaurant in Newhaven would be a novel and quirkly place to go?

Their festive menu is available here and it looks quite tempting?

If anybodies interested, perhaps this might be an option?

Re: Midlands Xmas meet - any ideas? - Guinney1971 - 07 Nov 2012

looks really good Paul, thanks for finding that - the venue is near Buxton in the
Derbyshire Peak District, are people up for this location?

I'd need to contact the restaurant tho to see what they can offer Kez to eat, as I
cant see a kids menu, otherwise I'll have to palm her off on someone for a few hours.

We'd need to fix a date, as I've got my family's annual punch up (I mean festive get-together)
to arrange as well.

Cheers,

Re: Midlands Xmas meet - any ideas? - trainmad - 07 Nov 2012

Figured it was something a bit different, and it's not too far out the way either!

I'm available any weekend day other than the 22, so count me in!

Re: Midlands Xmas meet - any ideas? - Guinney1971 - 07 Nov 2012

well my one of my cousin is a Paramedic and another is a Policewoman, so as soon
as I know what dates they are not working, I know when my family do is, so I'll know
when we'll be free.
