Upgrading brakes - DMZ - 09 Feb 2010

I was just curious as to what people might have done to uprate the performance of the braking system on the DeLorean. Clearly those who have uprated the performance of the engine also might have addressed this and I wondered what systems others had implemented successfully. Similarly which specialists have previously provided, or could provide upgrade components.

cheers,D

I still think the one of the best starts is to get things up to date i'e good pads (green/red stuff) replace the flexi hoses with S/Steel ones and keep the fluid fresh. Then there are upgraded drilled/grooved discs. I undersatnd you can put Princess 4 pot calipers (but very difficult to find) then there is the ultimate upgrade that Martin G does (effective but expensive)

what would be involved in fitting ABS to a DeLorean? Is it do-able?

Find something fast on the radio and tap your right foot in time to the music...

Retrofitting ABS can be done, but it's quite complex and won't make the brakes any better.

Cheers for the plug Chris - I would argue that they aren't expensive compared to similar setups for other cars - for example, the off-the-shelf price for just converting the rear drums to discs on the Smart Roadster is £1500 and they're tiny!

Hawsey can comment on the setup as he's been running it for a couple of months now, having previously used Ed Uding's cross-drilled & vented fronts.
