Steering Rack Bushes - stu3954 - 22 Dec 2009

Does anyone know what the steering rack bushes are off? or if they do uprated poly bush kit for it? I know it a sort of lotus steering rack.

If you mean the two main rubber mounting bushes, items 13 & 14 on this page:

...then no, there's no need to uprate them. They do not support any real loads but are there more to isolate the rack from the chassis for noise reasons. If you're missing one or both, I do have some old ones that're perfectly good.

If your steering bounces around a lot, you may be missing this plate, or it is installed incorrectly:

The two little tabs lock the right hand rack flange and prevent it from from moving left to right. if it's missing, then things get really bouncy (Hawsey, care to comment when you get back from Canada?!)

Thank you, Just wondered if the steering would feel better if there were any uprated ones, but your answer is good, so will put the original ones in.
