DMCH 17 & 18 " New wheels - dmcscott2002 - 30 Sep 2009

Not sure if anyones had a gander at this yet but DMC are looking into having these made due to the difficulty of getting original sized tyres.

I can't say I'm a fan to be honest even if they would make cleaning easier! The close up pics don't seem to show the small notch on the outer part of each spoke which is something I quite like of the stock ones.

nice pics Scott - but I'm inclined to agree with you here.

TBH, they look slightly 'chav' in that size, and with the alteration in design. I think the current
design, whilst a pain in the backside at times to keep clean, do suit the car well and are more
'in keeping' with its age and design.

The 14" tyres are no problem to get, but I know the 15" ones can be a bit more tricky at times,
but are usually available within a few days if you want them in 235 - I know some people do
use 225's tho, and dont have any problems, so that is an option I guess.

Yeah, but I can see why to an outsider they may aswell be the same thing but I think most DMC enthusiasts would agree that the originals are far less 'common bling'. I hate how little of the tyre is actually visable.

..... and also, lower profile tyres usually also mean a 'crashier' ride - I know that from the
rubber bands fitted to the Astra 2.2 Coupe I had.

I would think it would be easier for DMCH to lobby Goodyear to do a short run of correct size Eagle NCT 5's.
for the rears. I have Eagle NCT 5's on the front of LJH.
Goodyear do remakes for classic cars but remade rubber for 80's stuff is thin on the ground.

Goodyear is forever pop culture linked to the Delorean in BTTF with the movies close up of the D's rear white lettered Goodyear tyres 8) .

So, forgive me since I've not been around.. but are these the wheels they actually sell? I've seen the videos by our Martin:

And those look like actual replicas that are bigger... whereas the US ones look nothing like them. What's the deal (yes, it'll be something I'll buy along with brakes and a new engine!)

interesting vids, I'm not sure about the bigger rims tbh, they dont seem
*right* on a car of that era if you know what I mean.

I did like the video of the 2.5 Turbo De test drive, Martin's comment at the
end cracked me up

Fair enough - though it was something I was interested way back when, and to see they made production in one form or another is quite exciting. I'll shall continue searching!

I guess its because I'm so used to the 'look' of the standard rims... each to their own tho! 8)
