my cars been off the road for a while! - craigrid - 27 Mar 2009

G'day all,

As the big event in june draws nearer i'm starting to think of things i may need todo to my delorean to 'get her goin'

I'm lookin forward to the trip to the uk but i have only 4 days to get the car up an running prior to norfolk, which may sound alot but with jetlag n all!! Shock

It hasnt been ran since july 07, but is in storage up on blocks, i'm just after any sugestions, who has had any "delorean" related incidents with non-runners over time,

I know the usual, drain tank put new fuel in etc, but is there anything delorean specific i need to look for :?:

Thanks in advance for any help Big Grin

Hi Craig,
My car's in a similar situation to yours.
As well as draining the fuel check the condition of the fuel pick up hoses in the tank.

Check the anti-freeze to make sure its ok. The standard stuff last's around
2 years and then starts to loose its anti-corrosive qualities.
Run the car to operating temp and check the cooling fans kick in.

The air-con might not work if the seals have dried out and the gas leaked.

I would also check the tyres even if the car has been stored with the weight
off them.
