- Tourettes Tony - 05 Feb 2008 in all honesty im glad i was born when i was cos i didnt have to worry about global stuff, and i had the eighties and i loved it ![]() ![]() - Dodgy Motor - 05 Feb 2008 I agree that there is global warming due to mans burning of fossill fuels, also increased amounts of methane released into the atmosphere:? at the end of the day where do you think all the polution goes? we have x amount of atmosphere the gasses have to go somewhere and it can only be up. I grant you some gasses are lighter than others but it has to start layering at some point. Co2 and methane are "green house" gasses But I dont see how bloating Mr Browns purse helps to cure it, if anything they should be developing a away of removing these gasses, stopping production does not remove what is already there, END OF RANT - NickT - 05 Feb 2008 No point in trying to save a 2 watts or so of electric by turning your TV off instead of leaving it on standby when places like China are building coal powered power stations  NickT - Dan6457 - 05 Feb 2008 I read that the UK counts for 2% of the whole worlds pollution. So if we switched the entire country off over night it would only save 2% and china would soon balance that out! - Tourettes Tony - 06 Feb 2008 well just think of the amount of methane they produce  TT - Dan6457 - 06 Feb 2008   - Barson - 06 Feb 2008 NickT Wrote:No point in trying to save a 2 watts or so of electric by turning your TV off instead of leaving it on standby when places like China are building coal powered power stations  so are we: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/england/7230386.stm :p - NickT - 06 Feb 2008 I wonder if they are doing this as we are the last on the gas pipe from russia ? - Tourettes Tony - 06 Feb 2008 the bottom line is there are far too many people in the world, for instance great britain is more densley populated than india per sq mile so lets move over there  TT - Dan6457 - 06 Feb 2008 I still say we should build a load of nuclear power stations to tide us over until something better is invented. People go mad when when I say that though :? - Guinney1971 - 07 Feb 2008 ...... 2 years ago it was 'global warming' when we had that lovely hot summer in 2006. Then we have 2007, where it p'd down with rain, and suddenly its called 'climate change'. The planet Earth has been heating up and cooling down for millenia, and there is jack sh1t that any one living on this planet can do about it. Its just nature taking its course. The animals, insects, fish, birds and plant life have all evolved over millions of years to adapt to the changes in the planet, and they will continue to do so, which yes, will result in species becoming extinct, but thats natures way. Dont get me wrong, pollution is a problem, and the rapid industrialisation of China and India is causing huge pollution, but they say in their defence that they are only doing what the developed world was doing 200 years ago - and since when did China ever take any notice of global critiscism anyway! We are trying to do our bit at home, by using low energy light bulbs and running our diesel cars on recycled veggie oil (zero pollution) - and our petrol cars will be converted to LPG when funds allow. We recycle as much as possible and hopefully, we'll be growing our own fruit and veg and having fresh eggs from our own chickens this year ![]() amount of food we need to buy, and therefore the amount of packaging we will put in the wheelie bin to go to landfill. As has already been pointed out, I really cannot see how taxing us into oblivion is going to "save the planet". If fuel prices continue to go up (I reckon it will be £1.50 a litre by this time next year), then I think we will end up with public revolt and strikes............ Just my 2pth of course ![]() - Dan Willis - 07 Feb 2008 Nail on the head there Claire. IF we all disappeared tomorrow the climate change would continue - maybe a little slower (in the big scheme it'd be a mere blip - just like our existance!) but it'd happen. Why? Because it's happened before, and it'll happen again - nature taking it's course. Complete a total ass is what it is. Just another way to screw us out of money. - Dan6457 - 07 Feb 2008 I 100% agree with that Claire. Thats re-assured me that not everyone has caught this 'save the planet' bug. I'm not sure what they are trying to save it from...? Save the planet from nature  - tc ozzie - 09 Feb 2008 How can thay most people i know have classic cas and they live in towns what they going to do stop you leaving your own f ing driveway are they b........... im going to drive illegal if they start that s... s... em |
