Greetings!

I thought I'd join this merry band as I've always had a soft spot for the old DeLorean and I'm also a fan of the PRV engine. I'm a Volvo man at heart with a 960 as my daily driver, but I do have a B27E engined 262C (for sale at the mo) and a B280E engined 760GLE which I've converted to manual (believed to be the only B280E manual in the world). I thought I'd see what you folks are up to with regard to upping the power on the venerable PRV and if anyone has ideas specific to the EFI versions.

I've met a few of you before at the Belper Steam and Vintage Weekend (mysteriously held in Duffield!) last year and had a natter about various things. I've only one pic of the D's and it's not too good, but here it is anyway......

Anyway, hopefully I can be of assistance to you with regard to Volvo knowledge and parts supply, and you to me with regards mods to the PRV.

Anyone know which type of adhesive would be best to re-fix the rubber seal which goes around on the interior side of the hood?

  Help Please!!!!
Posted by: Paul McKay - 01 Mar 2007, 10:24 - Forum: 3 - Electrical - Replies (12)

Typical,

Car was booked in for an MOT this morning, and it wont start. Over the winter, i have periodically started the car, and it has always started on the button.

Now all i am getting is a clicking noise coming from the fuse and realy compartment.

I called out the AA, who were not much help to be honest, but the guy cleaned the contacts at the starter, checked it over, and said my problem was either the 'Bendix' or the 'Solenoid', but am i right in saying the Delorean has a pre-engaged starter so would therefore not have a bendix?

My car is vin - 6042, and i have read about the early vin modification, for the early vin starter problems, so mine shouldnt suffer from this...right?

My friend is going to come up and help me with the car, and he has far more experience than me in this department.

Advice will be greatly appreciated.

  Door Lock Modules : Upgrade
Posted by: ChrisS - 28 Feb 2007, 15:47 - Forum: 3 - Electrical - Replies (12)

Hi all

This is just a tester but a few years back I re designed the lock module to use more modern components. It does NOT use the old circuit board at all and it does not use relays, its a totally new PCB and components. The only bit I utilise is the box and loom. I have also added an additional plug for lock / unlock using a remote alarm ect so no need to cut, splice or scotch lock..heaven forbid the loom.

The prototype was in my car for over a year and it went with the car when I sold it to MrP Smile.
Now its not a microcomputer that DMCH / DPNW sell but there again would be a lot less than the £100+ plus would look stock Smile

I have not put any costs together yet but would imagine the price would be under £40 and I would require your old module or if your handy with a soldering iron I would just supply the built PCB and you could swap over your box / loom.

I do have enough parts to build 1 module currently so if anyone is interested in that PM me. Otherwise if there is not enough intrest I will not give up my day job

Thanks

Vin 16723, Aug 82, Black Interior Automatic FOR SALE
Posted by: Craig Churchill - 27 Feb 2007, 23:42 - Forum: DeLorean Cars or Parts For Sale or Wanted - Replies (2)

Hi Everyone,

I have just bought a new house and it is a real renovation project and i fear the Delorean is going to be neglected over the coming months/years. I therefore have decided to put the car on the market. I imported the car in june 2005 and have spent an absolute fortune getting it to its current standard.

It is an august 82, 54.000, black interior auto, I use the car 2-3 times a week and always keep it garaged. I imported it from minnesota and have traced its history back to 91 where the trail goes cold.

I have lots of files with all of the reciepts of my purchases, photos, etc that i would be happy to pass on to the next owner.

Looking through the bills for the last year and a half the amount of work undertaken on the car is immense...here is a sample!

Full set of Manuals (DMCH)
New wiper motor (DMCH)
Tasteful fog light modification using inner brake lights with black console switch (DMCH)
New gas struts on Doors, Hood and Engine (DMCH)
New Otterstat, seal, clip and pipe (Delorean One)
New Wiper Arms (DMCH)
New Wiper Blades (DMUK)
New Ball Joints, all replaced (DMCH)
New Hella and Halo UK Headlamps (DMUK)
New Brake Master Cylinder (DMCH)
New Anti Roll Bar bushes and hardware (DMCH)
New Handbrake Cables (DMCH)

New Thermostat and cover (DMCH)
New Cargo Net (DMCH)
New quality speakers, new automatic aerial and New Sony Stereo
New Euro Height Springs (Club)
New Circuit Breaker Upgrade (SpecialTauto)
New radiator coolant piping kit (SpecialTauto)
New Auto Trans filter and gaskets (SpecialTauto)
New Thermotime switch (SpecialTauto)
New oxygen sensor (SpecialTauto)
New injector seals (Local PRV specialist)
New warm-up regulator (DMCH)
New front discs and rebuilt calipers (PJGradyUK)
NOS Cold start Valve (Club)
ECU repair (Bosch specialist)
New Speedo cable (PJ Grady)
New Angle Drive & Cap (PJgrady)
NOS Idle speed regulator (Club)
New interior lights (PJ Grady)
Reheostat repair kit (DMCH)
NEW LED Kit for doors and centre console (DMCH)
New window switches (DMCH)
New horns (DMCH)
Cat Bypass (DMCLTD)
New exhaust heatshield (specialTauto)
New Windscreen (Insurance Job)

The car also had the following work done at PJ GRADY UK.

New Door seals
New lower control arm bushes
Numerous stainless repairs
Full regrain
Tub Repair
Fuel system refit
New HT Leads
(and much more)

I also have some bits I have not yet fitted

L & R Headlamp Housing (DMCH)
Like New original Seat Covers (Club)
New stainless brake pipes (DMUK)

So basically all the difficult jobs have been done...The car is a good runner, 10 months MOT, 4 months TAX but it does have a few bits and bobs to keep its new owner occupied on a sunday afternoon e.g non functioning A/C to figure out and if i was keeping it my next job would be some panel alignments and some other cosmetic tit bits.

So i am asking a realistic £11500 ONO.

The car is situated in Exeter, Devon.

Thanks for reading

Craig

P.S That was painful to write

Performance Cam Shafts and Stage 2 Engines
Posted by: Daniel Shane - 27 Feb 2007, 18:09 - Forum: 1 - Engine - Replies (33)

Hi All,

I have been asked over the last few weeks about where DMCL got there performance Cam's from.

Well they were reground by a company called GTO engineering. There number is 01189401101 and ask for Kevin.

This guy has been playing with PRV's for years and is a wealth of knowledge.

The only other bits needed for a stage 2 are a Volvo Metering head, a Volvo Ignition Dizzy and a good exhaust.

KMI can supply the Metering Head and Dizzy. There number is 02073857138. Also I believe Ed Uding also sells them.
