Hi all, I have just imported #003170, manual, grey interior.
1 owner, 12625 miles, been in storage 13 years.
Original bill of sale, JZD signed congratulations on purchase letter, owners & workshop manuals, recall letters, Delorean World mags, service records and invoices.
Really pleased with overall condition inside & out.
Booked into PJs in April for full appraisal. Will have completed DVLA/MOT requirements by then.
Big thanks to Chris for the time he has spent on the phone giving me advice & suggestions. Chris is hoping to find time in his schedule to visit me to view her before she goes off to PJs, but it’s a hell of a journey for him.
I live in Bournemouth but she is currently in Sittingbourne Kent (nearer to PJs).
Hoping to do some shows/meets once she has had the once over.

Very much looking forward to meeting you all and becoming active member of the family.

re wanted driver door and driver rear panel
Posted by: steve.s - 05 Feb 2020, 02:12 - Forum: DeLorean Cars or Parts For Sale or Wanted - No Replies

Hi All
i know this is a real long shot, but does anyone has used or new rear panel or drivers door spare?.

my painted car i am currently stripping. i knew these two were damaged and hoping to save at least the rear panel.

however the more i look at it the more it is telling me it is unsaveable.

Chris N has already said the door would need replacing, but i am pretty both will need it.

obviously Ed has NOS (ouch!), and i may have to, but thought i would put feelers out just in case.

i have already tried Dave H and all his stocks of panels are long gone.

or if anyone knows of any in Ireland......a good used or NOS.

thank you

Steve

(if not i may have to buy a NOS drivers rear panel, and get a cheap wrap in stainless effect on drivers door until i save the pennies for the new one!, not sure about fitting the door either....one mistake and bang a new rear window required too!)

Fueling Issues - Looking for opinions on PPR
Posted by: jwrayth - 26 Jan 2020, 11:31 - Forum: 2 - Emission / Fuel Systems - Replies (24)

Long time without posting. I took a bit of a DeLorean hiatus after 2 years of continued issues. The Summer 2019 issues with my car I've only had time to start looking at now, so was looking for some advice. The problems seem likely to be multiple issues, but manifested as low power, warm start issues, stalling on anything but gentle acceleration, no power above 15 mph.

Work done on the fuel system in advance of the problems;

  • Fuel Pump replaced summer 2016, new in-tank filter screen and spring in pickup hose
  • New fuel filter, fuel lines (amongst other VoD work) Christmas 2017
  • No fueling issues summer 2018, but did have a sticky high idle
  • Observed hot-start issues in Autumn 2018, Accumulator replaced December 2018 due to this
Work/tests done since investigating the issue
  • New fuel pump fitted, as this was my initial suspect (2016 pump had gotten loud enough I could hear it in cabin)
  • Fuel pump voltage tested (12v on the money)
  • Hot-start o-rings replaced on PPR
  • Car holds 42 PSI rest pressure for 1+ hour, so accumulator seems good.
  • Fuel Pressure tested. 50 PSI control pressure, 59 PSI primary pressure
That last one led me to ordering some shims from the other club. I started with the smallest and worked my way up but was noticing zero impact until I had added 1.25mm of shims, at which point suddenly my primary and control pressure were reading the same, and went up to 70 psi (I stopped the test as it shot up suddenly, so I could release pressure via the drain valve).

So I've returned the PPR to it's original state other than the replaced o-rings and I'm getting the original values on my pressure tests again.

I've done some reading of the various forums (DeLorean and otherwise) and not found someone experiencing this issue so I thought I'd put it up for some collective input before I proceed. The shims having no impact on the pressure makes me think I'm not getting enough fuel to the distributor itself...

  Factory OEM Defrost switch wanted
Posted by: Chris Hawes - 19 Jan 2020, 22:38 - Forum: DeLorean Cars or Parts For Sale or Wanted - Replies (1)

I'm looking for a factory switch (not the reproduction units).

Does anyone have a spare working unit to sell?

I know of someone that has a switch minus the internals (so if you have the internals only, then I'm also interested)

Thanks in advance

Hey guys!

John from near York here.

Having been and owner, and a member for over five years now, I thought I should stop being so antisocial and get involved.

Have met some of you guys before at Really Retro Show in 2018.

Hope everyone is doing alright.

  Radiator refurbishment or replacement
Posted by: Rich Hanlon - 13 Jan 2020, 00:14 - Forum: 1 - Engine - Replies (7)

Hi folks, as part of my complete restoration of 6126 I need to replace the radiator as the side tanks are only held on by force of habit. Does anyone have any recommendations for a refurbishment place ideally in the Birmingham to Sheffield range?  Or is it more cost effective to bin it and mend it with a new one? Cheers Rich
