The Delorean was parked outside the local shops in my home town of shifnal, my son and I had just got out of the car when a man stopped to have a look at the car and ask questions . And that's when it happened (BIG BANG) passing people stopped , the guy asking the questions nearly sh-t himself, everyone looked at me , what should I do , try opening one of the doors in front all the people now looking in our direction at this super cool delorean or walk away .
So after the shopping was completed we got back to the car , my son had to hold the driver door up whilst I got in,
So now I need a new torsion bar as mine as snapped in two, and some advice on how to fix it
Many thanks nigel
Oh Dear, which door?
Chris

Always worth a call to Dave Howarth as well. I do have a new one but it's for the other side I'm afraid.

'Rissy' may be able to help.

Not a common occurrence, but frequent enough to cause a slight worry. They seem to occur with the door shut, which is something. It seems the engineers worries were partially justified.
I've only got passenger side bars unfortunately.

DMC in Texas, I believe, have had new manufactured ones done to the original design specifications. I'm not sure how many, but either not enough to lower the overall price of them, due to their availability, or are keeping the prices that high.

I would think it would cost a lot to retool and have small batches made up anyway.

Of key importance is why and you'll see how to sort it out so it doesn't happen again. If the steel roof reinforcement comes unstuck and flexes up in the middle, it rests on the torsion bars.

I got one of the new replacements, and it's still holding the door up now 3 years later.
Interesting repair Martin.
Think there is slight movement in my rear roof.
Have you got a more detailed vid or write up on how you actually undertook
The repairs?
Cheers.
