Hey guys,

Just wondering if anyone could let me know whether they have or the club shop still has the stainless exhaust in stock. Quite fancy one but if not the details of the company that manufactures them would be great! Emailed the club shop but haven't received a reply.

Cheers!
No, I dont think he has any anymore. Fluctuations in S/Steel prices! It's a place in Nottingham but cant remember the name at the moment, I will try and dig it out tonight if no one puts it up before then.
Chris
This is the company that makes them, they are based near Nottingham.

Stainless Exhaust Specialist
Speak to Don - 01623 552 262

Myself and another owner are toying with the idea of buying one for our car's, if we can organise a group buy, hopefully Don would be able to give us a discount off of the regular price.
Thanks Chris & Mike!

I've sent them a little e-mail. A small group buy would be great as I'm sure they would offer something. I'm ready to buy at the moment so hopefully they'll get back to me pretty quickly, otherwise I'll give Don a shout!
Don is making one for me, but I'm desperate for it, fitting it will be a winter project, so I'm happy to let someone have my place in the queue .

I still want one of course and will take it when ever its built.
I have a complete new S/S exhaust system plus gaskets brass bolts the full Monty which I bought for 510 but never fitted it, it was bought from a firm in Nottinghamshire can't remember name, with all the bits, if someone wants to make me a realistic offer but they will have to arrange delivery. Regards Stephen.

For a split second I thought 510 was the price Shock

Did you get a response from them?
Just a note, I purchased a new SES ss exhaust kit from Stephen ayr41 who got it from the company in Nottingham SES, but please note it was not a simple bolt on replacement, it took ages, the alternator bracket has to be chopped and redesigned with a really short fan belt, alternator wiring has to be lengthened and heat wrapped, the exhaust had to be heat wrapped as it was too close with no shield, lambda sensor wires had to be chopped and extended, tailpipes sit on rear plastic bumper valance and melted it! not happy with it at all, beware anyone thinking of getting one, on the plus sound more power and a lovely sound but not a straight forward replacement like you would think.

All a bit odd really, I had the same one and fitted it to my last car, and have assisted in fitting a couple more without issues. The only thing I had to do (with my car) was heat wrap the starter and alternator wiring, it certinally fitted the rear all OK and no problem with alternator fitment. I wonder if anyone else experienced the same issues as yourself?
Chris
Sorry to hear & that's also slightly worrying as I believe mine is being built now!

I've only heard good things about the fittment of these exhausts & I know the clearance is tight from talking to Chris N but don't fancy having anything chopped in my engine bay just to fit one. I guess if it doesn't line up properly then it's going back!

The exhaust was made to fit one car originally (Chris P's) and yes the fascia sit slower on some cars than it does on his. The kits from the US allow the tips to be adjusted.

The alternator bracket should not have required modification - what alternator did you start with, and did you even have an original DMC tensioner bracket? Was the bracket installed the correct way around to begin with? (many aren't) The sliding bit should be on the inside on all but the earliest cars. I have fitted many of these exhausts and never had to modify the bracket. I have had to turn the bracket round on several cars though. On earlier cars the power connection from the alternator is part of the main loom whereas on later cars it jumps across to the starter - guessing you have a later car. You can buy these sort of wires in different lengths for a couple of quid. It isn't the exhaust place's fault that the car they first made the kit for did not need this - how would they know?

The lambda sensor wire does need modificaiton but you can easily make an extension rather than chopping the wire.
I have fitted several with no problems, I agree with Martin, something about you alternator is different.

The exhausts are all identical and assembled on a very strong jig, no chance of variation.
Well ! I was just making the point that I have a standard delorean and all this had to be done for mine to be fitted to warn people, then im shot down for it? i'll keep my mouth shut in future and not offer my opinions to help people, thought this was an open forum for members to help each other.

I don't think that was the intention of anyone and not mine! I just think people were a bit surprised, I know I have fitted/assisted fitting at least five of these systems without issues (other than listed) so it was a surprise to see you had problems. Not saying your wrong in any way, if there are different problems/issues out there then yes people need to be made aware of them. Do you have any pictures of the problems you had in fitting it that you can post on hear so everyone can have a look? it may help with peoples decision making before purchasing one of these?
