Ok. So got home from the DOC event fine.

On Sunday I finally got around to power washing the mud/clay stuff out of the tyres and off the side of the wheels.

When putting the car away, at crawling speed into the garage I applied the brakes, they seem to be 'grabbing' as if I'd slammed on.

There appears to be appreciable difference in the pedal travel or feel, but the braking effect is much more dramatic.

Trying to get it into the local garage ahead of the Kngiht Rider event starting on Friday, so any thoughts greatly appreciated.

Possibly crud washed into the calipers, small stones etc?? perhaps brake hose collapsed not letting fluid flow properly??

Chris
inclined to agree with Chris, it might be worth getting the wheels off and
just double checking theres nothing stuck in the calipers or round the discs.

Hope you get it sorted ok, what time have we got to be there Saturday morning?
I'm certainly hoping for a simple stone/crud related issue.

JohnC
You left it outside for a few days - it's quite normal for brake discs to develop a film of rust which makes them much more grippy for the first stop afterwards. Usually it's not noticeable because it gets taken off in the blink of an eye. What you describe, driving slowly, would not have done that.
Thanks for the suggestions everyone. The local garage stripped the brakes down and removed 'a fair amount of mud and stones', after refit and adjustment all is well.

No issues on the trip to the Knight Rider event ;-)

nice one John, glad you got it sorted ok and that it was a just a 'crud
issue' and nowt more serious.
