hi there
i have a auto on the BTTF car make sure it has transmisson fluid in it it does take a lot are all cilinders fireing right ed uding rebuids the auto boxes in holland and my works know its a bit of a job to take them out but it worth it when you drive th4e car does it change maunlly by moving the gear changer to 1 then 2 does it change ? you might need the cable adhjsting from gear post

Probably not a lot of help talking to Ed if the guy is based in the US!

As Glen said, check to see if the car goes into second gear when you move the 'shifter' (as I think Americans call it) into "2".
If it does then it is likely to be the auto computer gear select circuit and/ or the throttle cable adjustment.
If it doesn't go into second then the solenoid isn't operating and this could be down to the solenoid being stick and needs operating a few times, or it is the solenoid driving (output) transistor in the auto computer.
Double check your fluid levels first. Also check the auto computer fuse in the fuse box that it hasn't gone tarnished due to old age.

yea drarran did not think of that worry ,mate never seen were he was :wink:
